Sharing ITT Data

To avoid the unnecessary testing of construction products for which performance has already been sufficiently demonstrated by stable test results, a manufacturer can use the initial type test ITT results obtained by a third party.

This is a simple, sensible option to reduce the cost and need for testing when the performance of a product has already been proven by previous testing with a notified body.  BS EN 1279 now allows for a unit manufacturer to share the test reports of another manufacturer subject to certain conditions. This option has been available since 2010 but has not been widely accepted due to certain ‘experts’ stating this option  was only available to large groups with multiple sites.  This interpretation was put forward by various authorities and they were completely wrong in their interpretation.

There are conditions to using this option which is mainly that you can only use the products used on the shared test reports.  should you change product you will be required to do your own testing with a notified body.
